Guala Closures Unveils New Manufacturing Facility In Lagos Free Zone.

Guala Closures, a global leader in the production of closures for spirits, wine, water, beer, non-alcoholic beverages, and edible oils, has officially inaugurated its new greenfield manufacturing facility in the Lagos Free Zone, marking a significant step in its African expansion strategy.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by high-profile dignitaries including Ugo Boni, Consul General of Italy in Lagos; Adesuwa Ladoja, CEO of the Lagos Free Zone; Andrea Lodetti, CEO of Guala Closures; and other top executives from the Group.

This development underscores Guala Closures’ strong commitment to the African market, especially Nigeria, which is not only Africa’s most populous nation but also one of its most dynamic and rapidly growing economies. The state-of-the-art Nigerian plant will serve the West African market, providing advanced, anti-counterfeiting safety closures for spirits bottles. These closures include features specifically developed to address local market challenges and enhance product integrity.

Completed in a record time of just 22 weeks, the facility spans nearly 5,000 square metres and became operational by the end of 2024. It is poised for further expansion over the coming years and is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities within the local community.

Building on its already successful operations in Kenya and South Africa—recently boosted by the acquisition of Astir Vitogiannis’ facility in Johannesburg—Guala Closures’ investment in Nigeria is a clear signal of its long-term vision to become a key player in Africa’s industrial landscape.

Speaking at the launch, CEO Andrea Lodetti said, “This investment underscores our commitment to advancing in the African market and creating value for our partners. The new Lagos facility enables us to better serve local businesses and global brands with innovative, high-quality closure solutions tailored to regional needs.”

The establishment of the Lagos plant not only highlights Guala Closures’ strategic focus on growth and innovation but also reinforces its role as a vital contributor to Nigeria’s economic development and industrial progress.
