Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, champions for enhanced funding in education to drive rapid human capital advancement across Nigeria.
During a recent courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Architect Sonny Echono, in Abuja, Governor Ododo applauded TETFUND’s support for tertiary institutions in Kogi State while stressing the need for additional resources to bolster high-impact projects in these institutions.
Expressing gratitude for TETFUND’s intervention in Kogi’s tertiary education landscape, Governor Ododo stated the significant progress witnessed in institutions like Kogi State University, Kabba, which recently matriculated over 1000 students. However, he stated the need for further assistance in developing critical infrastructure to propel the state’s agenda for accelerated human capital development.
Governor Ododo reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing education, labeling it as the cornerstone for societal development. He pledged to foster key focus areas such as science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) across all higher institutions in Kogi State, ensuring comprehensive educational access for all school-age children.
In response, TETFUND’s Executive Secretary, Architect Sonny Echono, commended Governor Ododo’s proactive leadership approach, lauding him as a servant-leader dedicated to the welfare of Kogi’s populace. Echono affirmed TETFUND’s continued support for Kogi State’s tertiary education sector, aligning with Governor Ododo’s vision for accelerated human capital development.
Accompanying Governor Ododo on the visit were the state’s Commissioner for Education, Honorable Wemi Jones, and the Vice Chancellor of Kogi State University, Kabba, Professor KIT Eniola.
