The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election committee in Ondo State, Governor Ahmed Ododo, has lauded stakeholders and party members for their orderly conduct during the primary election process.
The commendation comes amidst a significant turnout witnessed during the shadow election, aimed at selecting the party’s flag bearer for the November governorship election.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media to the Kogi Governor, Hon. Ismail Isah, Governor Ododo expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election across the 18 local government areas of the state.
He commended the efforts of committee members, security agencies, and other stakeholders who diligently monitored the election proceedings.
Assuring stakeholders of the transparency of the process, Ododo stated, “I have received reports from our committee members and security agencies as well as NGOs monitoring the election, including video footages, and I can say that the process has been transparent.”
He reiterated the committee’s commitment to producing a candidate capable of unifying the APC ahead of the November 2024 governorship election in Ondo State.
Addressing concerns over delays in the arrival of election materials in certain areas, Ododo reassured stakeholders that such delays had no adverse effect on the overall conduct of the primary election. Additionally, he expressed confidence that issues observed in the revalidated membership list would not significantly impact the outcome of the primary election.
Emphasising the spirit of camaraderie within the party, the election committee appealed to all aspirants and their supporters to view the primary election as a contest among family members striving to enhance the party’s prospects.
The committee affirmed its adherence to the APC guidelines for candidate nomination in general elections and relevant provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.
