Fulham FC Manager Marco Silva has said he and the club are rooting for the duo of Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey in Sunday’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final.
Fulham FC Boss, Marco Silva who happens to be the coach of the two Nigerian players Iwobi and Bassey at club level in Fulham, has reiterated his support and that of the club is for his two players and the Nigeria national team. As the Super Eagles take on hosts nation Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the AFCON 2023 tournament at the Alassanne Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, on Sunday night.
Silva claimed he has missed the services of the two players but is rooting for them to win the AFCON title.
“Of course, we have been watching. It’s a mixed feeling for us. It’s been a long time without two key players for us. Right now, we are supporting them in the final,” Silva told a press conference ahead of Fulham’s clash with Bournemouth.
Both Iwobi and Bassey have played a crucial role in Nigeria’s quest to the final of the competition.
Midfielder Iwobi has featured in all six of Nigeria’s games in the competition, while Bassey on the other hand has made five appearances.
The Super Eagles will tackle the hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the AFCON 2023 tournament at the Alassanne Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, on Sunday.
