France Bounce Back With 2-0 Victory Over Belgium In Nations League.
France secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Belgium in their Nations League Group A2 clash, getting their campaign back on track after a disappointing 3-1 loss to Italy on Friday.
With star forward Kylian Mbappé rested on the bench after playing the full match against Italy, Didier Deschamps made significant changes to his starting line-up, completely revamping the forward line. Despite Belgium’s bright start, France found their breakthrough just before the half-hour mark when Randal Kolo Muani capitalised on a loose ball to score his sixth international goal.
The Paris Saint-Germain striker’s team-mate, Ousmane Dembélé, extended France’s lead shortly after the break with a well-taken goal, leaving Belgium with a steep uphill battle.
Mbappé entered the fray midway through the second half and had two decent opportunities, but was unable to add to France’s tally. Despite his absence from the scoresheet, France comfortably saw out the match to earn their first points in the group.
Italy Maintain Perfect Start
In other Group A2 action, Italy continued their strong start to the Nations League with a 2-1 victory over Israel. Davide Frattesi opened the scoring for the Italians with a clever finish, chesting in a cross before Moise Kean added a second in the second half. Israel’s Mohammad Abu Fani scored a late consolation in stoppage time, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Italy from claiming all three points.
Italy now sit at the top of the group with six points from their opening two matches, while France look to build on their victory as the competition progresses.
