Flying Eagles Set For Final Preparations In Ikenne Ahead Of WAFU B U-20 Tournament.
Nigeria’s U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, will relocate to Ikenne in Ogun State for their final preparations ahead of the 2024 WAFU B U-20 Championship, which will take place in Togo. The squad is set to camp at the renowned Remo Sports Institute for a week before heading to Lome, where they will compete in Group B against Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire, as they look to defend the title they won two years ago in Niger Republic.
The Flying Eagles, who reached the quarter-finals of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, are focused on retaining their WAFU B crown. Group A of the tournament features hosts Togo, Ghana, Benin Republic, and Niger Republic, with the competition scheduled to run from 17th to 31st October.
The WAFU B Championship serves as a crucial qualifier for next year’s Africa U-20 Cup of Nations. The top four teams from that tournament will earn the opportunity to represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 World Cup finals, which will take place in Chile next year.
The Flying Eagles are eager to continue their strong form on the international stage, with their upcoming camp in Ikenne expected to fine-tune their preparations for a successful campaign in Togo.
