FIFA President Gianni Infantino Praises Morocco’s Football Achievements
Upon his arrival at Rabat-Sale International Airport, FIFA President Gianni Infantino celebrated Morocco’s remarkable accomplishments in football and its growing stature as a top destination for hosting major football events.
Infantino hailed Morocco as a global football powerhouse, highlighting the nation’s historic achievement of reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 Qatar World Cup as a significant milestone in its football journey.
Speaking ahead of the African Futsal Cup of Nations (AFCON) final between Morocco and Angola, Infantino commended Morocco’s role as a host and applauded the excellent organization of the tournament.
“It’s a pleasure to return to my home, the Kingdom of Morocco, where football thrives, pulsates, and lives,” Infantino expressed.
Looking ahead to future challenges, including the prospect of hosting the 2030 World Cup, Infantino expressed confidence in Morocco’s capabilities. “We are well aware of Morocco’s strengths and capabilities,” he remarked.
The AFCON final took place at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex, with Morocco’s futsal team competing against Angola. Earlier matches saw Egypt and Libya contending for third place in the tournament.
Morocco’s football achievements include winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2016 and 2020 and securing the Arab Cup consecutively in 2021 and 2022, showcasing the nation’s prowess and consistent success in football competitions.
