Super Falcons at 36th, Zambia Achieves New Highest Rank as Spain Leads FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking.
The FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking is back after a nearly three-month hiatus! During this period, an impressive 154 international matches were played, significantly impacting the rankings.
Africa buzzed with excitement due to the qualifying matches for the upcoming Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in Paris (2024), while Europe was captivated by the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 qualifiers. These high-stakes encounters, along with numerous friendlies, have shaken up the standings, causing adjustments within the top three positions.
Spain maintains its reign at the top, but the pressure is mounting. France has surged into second place, marking a historic first for Les Bleues, overtaking a declining England, which now sits in third.
Germany has reclaimed the fourth spot from a downward-trending USA, which continues to lose ground. Further down, Sweden and Japan hold steady, while Canada, Brazil, and Korea DPR each climb a spot. This impressive rise pushes the Netherlands out of the top 10 for the first time in seven years, dropping to eleventh.
Significant movers outside the top ten include Montenegro, which climbed four places to 85th, and El Salvador, which rose seven places to 90th, making impressive strides within the top 100. Belarus, which moved up two places to 55th, claimed the biggest points gain with a remarkable 31.91 points. North Macedonia achieved the most significant ranking jump, climbing 12 places to 123rd after dominant wins.
Record-breaking achievements are also celebrated! Spain, Zambia, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, and Congo DR all reached their highest-ever points totals. Zambia, in particular, has double the joy as it climbs one place to 64th, marking its best ranking position ever.
With the Paris 2024 Olympics approaching, expect further shifts in the rankings in the coming months. Stay tuned to see which teams can capitalize and climb the ladder!
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking will be published on 16 August 2024.
