The Nigerian Government has announced plans to complete the East-West Road, a project that began 18 years ago.
The Minister of Niger Delta, Abubakar Momoh, revealed in an interview with Channels Television that the road’s construction is set to be finished within the next year.
Specifically, the section from Eleme Petrochemical to Ahoada and Bayelsa will be completed in 12 months. Momoh assured, “In the next year, by the time you visit particularly the Eleme Petrochemical area and the Ahoada to Bayelsa state, you will see that the road has been made through.”
The East-West Road project, which aims to connect various parts of the Niger Delta region, was initiated in 2006. However, progress has been slow, with significant portions of the road still unfinished.
