Senior Advocate of Nigeria and renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has denied any connection with controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.
Falana stated that he has never met or had any dealings with Bobrisky, following claims made in a viral audio circulating online.
In the audio, Bobrisky allegedly stated that she had bribed officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15 million to drop money laundering charges against her.
The recording, posted by blogger Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, included claims that Bobrisky’s “godfather,” in collaboration with the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa, facilitated her serving a six-month sentence in a private apartment instead of a prison.
VeryDarkMan further alleged that Falana had sought a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for N10 million.
In response, Falana dismissed the claims, asserting that he has helped secure pardons for 280 convicted individuals, both within and outside Nigeria, without ever accepting payment.
He categorically denied any involvement with Bobrisky, stating, “Bobrisky never spoke to me. I have never met him and do not know him from Adam. He was alleged to have spoken to my son, Folarin (Falz).”
Falana clarified that Bobrisky had contacted his son on May 4, seeking N3 million to be placed in a VIP section of the prison.
However, Falz declined, warning Bobrisky to avoid attempting to bribe prison officials. Falana reiterated that this was the extent of his family’s involvement and condemned the release of tapes attempting to defame him.
