The Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State, a senior lecturer faced public humiliation after accusations of making inappropriate advances towards a female student surfaced, as reported by The Nation.
The lecturer, whose identity remains undisclosed, reportedly incurred the wrath of female undergraduates from the English Department, where he is employed, upon allegations of misconduct.
Demanding accountability, the students insisted on his public disgrace, citing that “his actions have finally caught up with him.”
Witnesses recounted the scene where the lecturer was stripped down to his boxers, only to be spared further embarrassment by the intervention of the school’s security unit at the Adankolo mini campus.
During interrogation, the lecturer pointed fingers at his colleagues, suggesting complicity in manipulating academic outcomes based on personal relationships with female students.
Responding to inquiries, the university’s spokesperson, Mr. Daniel Iyke, confirmed the incident and disclosed that the management had initiated an investigation.
Mr. Iyke stated, “The university has established internal procedures to address such matters. The Vice-Chancellor has promptly formed a committee to investigate the issue. Further updates will be provided upon the conclusion of the investigation.”
Efforts to reach the alleged victim or her father, purportedly a serving policeman, were unsuccessful, as they were shielded from media interactions.
