The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has officially declared the “Child Support Scheme Platform” as fake and nonexistent.
The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, addressed the issue, emphasizing that the ministry has no association with the purported scheme.
In response to the circulating misinformation, Minister Edu stated, “The circulating bogus child support scheme with the title ‘FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S ₦50,000 CHILD SUPPORT FUND FOR ALL NIGERIAN PARENTS IS ONGOING,’ and the accompanying link are fake as they did not emanate from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.”
She reassured the public that all legitimate social intervention schemes initiated by the ministry are well-documented and officially communicated through appropriate channels. Minister Edu unequivocally stated that the so-called “Child Support Scheme” is fraudulent and has no affiliation with the ministry.
Addressing the concern over potential exploitation, she warned, “The general public is hereby alerted that undesirable elements whose sole agenda is to mislead and defraud unsuspecting Nigerians are behind the fake scheme advertisement and the link.”
Minister Edu disclosed that security agents have initiated investigations to unveil those behind the deceptive scheme. She urged Nigerians to exercise caution and disregard such misleading links for their own safety, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
“While security agents have swung into action to unmask the unpatriotic elements behind the intended scam, Nigerians are advised to ignore the link to avoid being defrauded of their hard-earned money,” she advised.
