Federal Government To Close Independence Bridge On April 1 For Repairs.
The Federal Government has announced the closure of the Independence Bridge (Marina-bound) in Lagos for essential maintenance and rehabilitation works. The closure will take effect from 1 April 2025 and will remain in place until the end of May 2025.

The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mrs Olukorede Kesha, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, explaining that the repairs are necessary to ensure the safety and durability of the bridge.
The closure will affect traffic travelling from Ahmadu Bello Way and Adeola Odeku towards Marina, Eko Bridge, and Onikan (Zone 2). Motorists have been urged to plan their journeys in advance and utilise alternative routes to ease congestion during the repair period.
Kesha apologised for any inconvenience caused by the closure and expressed gratitude to the public for their patience and cooperation. She reassured commuters that the maintenance work is crucial for improving road infrastructure and enhancing public safety.
The government has advised road users to stay updated on traffic management measures and follow directives from traffic authorities to minimise disruptions.
