In the kickoff match of the women’s football event at the African Games, Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, secured a 2-0 victory against Morocco on Friday. (Govima Sport Reports)
Falconets of Nigeria, who are the reigning champions after clinching gold medal in the previous tournament held in Rabat in 2019 started off their campaign with a win against Morocco.
Chioma Olise opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 19th minute, followed by Addo Yina extending the lead in the 40th minute.
Meanwhile the Nigeria Male U-20 team lost their own encounter to Uganda in the first opening game, they lost 2:1 to Uganda who produced a fine showing to edge out their Nigerian opponent.
Likewise in the men’s category, hosts Ghana settled for a goalless draw against Congo.
