FAAN Reopens Runway At Enugu Airport Ahead Of Schedule.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the early completion of emergency repairs on the runway at Enugu Airport, allowing the runway to reopen for landings and take-offs ahead of schedule.
In a statement issued on Saturday, FAAN’s Consumer Protection Department disclosed that the runway, which had been closed due to a sudden and significant rupture in the asphalt surface at a critical section, is now fully operational.
Initially, the emergency works were scheduled to commence on 22nd April and conclude by 6th May 2025. However, the rehabilitation works were completed earlier than anticipated, with engineers confirming the runway is now safe for use.
“Rehabilitation works on the runway have been completed, and the runway is cleared for landings and take-offs by the engineers working with FAAN,” said FAAN’s Director of Consumer Protection, Mrs Orah.
The Authority expressed gratitude to all airport users and stakeholders for their patience and cooperation throughout the repair period. FAAN also extended its apologies for any inconvenience caused, assuring the public that the closure and repair works were undertaken solely in the interest of safety.
The swift completion of the repairs is a significant development for travellers and airline operators, ensuring the smooth resumption of flight operations at Enugu Airport.
