Manchester City faces uncertainty ahead of their FA Cup semi-final clash against Chelsea this Saturday as striker Erling Haaland is uncertain to feature.
The 23-year-old Norwegian forward was substituted late in their Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final, a match they lost on penalties against Real Madrid. City’s manager Pep Guardiola revealed that Haaland requested to be substituted due to a muscular issue.
Guardiola expressed cautious optimism regarding Haaland’s availability for the upcoming semi-final, stating, “We will see how his evolution is in the next hours.”
In addition to Haaland’s situation, midfielder Kevin de Bruyne also experienced fatigue during the Real Madrid game but is expected to be fit for the upcoming match.
Despite these challenges, Guardiola emphasized the resilience needed, especially after their Champions League exit, stating, “We don’t have another option. I don’t want us to feel sorry for ourselves.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea, under manager Mauricio Pochettino, is looking to capitalize on City’s recent exertions in the Champions League.
