Esther Nworgu Wins Silver For Nigeria At Paralympic Games
Esther Ogechi Nworgu has secured Nigeria’s second medal at the ongoing Paralympic Games, taking home the Silver medal in the women’s up to 41kg Para-Powerlifting event. Nworgu delivered an impressive performance, setting two new Paralympic records with her last two lifts of 112kg and 118kg.
The contest between Nworgu and China’s Zhe Cui was intense, with both athletes pushing each other to new heights. In the end, it took four Paralympic records to separate the two, with Cui winning Gold and Nworgu earning Silver. Despite narrowly missing out on the top spot, Nworgu’s achievement remains remarkable.
This historic performance makes Nworgu the first Nigerian powerlifter to compete at the Paralympic Games in Paris, further cementing her place in the nation’s sporting history. Her success continues to highlight Nigeria’s strength in Para-Powerlifting on the global stage.
