Tottenham Fight Back To Secure Thrilling Victory Over Aston Villa.
Tottenham Hotspur staged an impressive comeback to defeat Aston Villa 4-1 in the Premier League, with Dominic Solanke scoring twice in the second half to inspire the turnaround. The £65 million summer signing doubled his goal tally for the season with two strikes in four minutes, lifting Spurs to seventh place in the table under manager Ange Postecoglou.
The match began with a setback for Spurs as Morgan Rogers put Aston Villa in the lead after 32 minutes, taking advantage of Tottenham’s failure to clear Lucas Digne’s in-swinging corner. Villa had already come close just minutes earlier when Amadou Onana’s header struck the post, as the visitors displayed a disciplined defence to thwart Tottenham’s efforts in the first half.
However, Spurs turned the game on its head shortly after the break. Brennan Johnson scored the equaliser, expertly heading in Son Heung-min’s cross from the left, which ignited the atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Just moments later, Solanke gave Spurs the lead with a sublime finish, lifting the ball over the advancing Emiliano Martinez following a well-timed pass from Dejan Kulusevski. Solanke then struck again, slotting in from Richarlison’s assist to put the game beyond Villa’s reach.
James Maddison added a touch of brilliance with a stunning free-kick in stoppage time, sealing the victory and repeating Tottenham’s 4-1 comeback win, similar to their previous home triumph against West Ham.
The win sees Tottenham closing the gap on the top four, with fourth-placed Arsenal now only two points ahead. Meanwhile, fifth-placed Aston Villa missed the chance to move into third, leaving Spurs in a strong position as they push for a higher league finish.
