Harry Wilson’s Late Double Seals Dramatic Fulham Comeback Against Brentford

In a thrilling London derby at Craven Cottage, substitute Harry Wilson stunned Brentford with two injury-time goals, propelling Fulham to a 2-1 victory after coming from behind. The late heroics lifted Fulham into ninth place, keeping them within reach of the European spots.

The match began with Brentford’s Vitaly Janelt scoring a spectacular opener, a thunderous strike from 25 yards that put the visitors in the lead in the first half. Brentford, known for their quick starts this season, seemed poised to claim the points as Fulham struggled to find a breakthrough despite their relentless efforts.

Fulham, however, started brightly and had been on the front foot throughout. Cottagers’ winger Reiss Nelson, making his first Premier League start, tested Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken twice in quick succession, while Emile Smith Rowe also forced a save. Yet, Brentford held firm, and with their first real chance, Janelt’s brilliant goal looked set to be the match-winner.

The second half followed the same pattern, with Fulham dominating possession and pushing Brentford back into their half. Fulham’s Alex Iwobi, Kenny Tete, and Andreas Pereira all saw efforts saved as frustration grew among the home supporters.

But the late drama began when Wilson was brought on with only eight minutes left. His first goal came in the 92nd minute, an acrobatic flick with the outside of his boot, lofting the ball over Flekken from Adama Traore’s cross. Then, deep into injury time, Antonee Robinson floated in a cross which Wilson stooped low to meet, heading home the 97th-minute winner and sparking jubilant celebrations around Craven Cottage.

Brentford, who have now dropped the most points from winning positions in the league this season, were left empty-handed after another painful late collapse. Fulham, on the other hand, maintained their unbeaten record in London derbies, a streak that seemed in jeopardy until Wilson’s late heroics.

With 26 shots to Brentford’s five, Fulham’s determination was undeniable. Marco Silva’s substitutions – introducing Traore, Wilson, and Rodrigo Muniz – proved decisive, as Fulham relentlessly delivered crosses into the box, finally breaking Brentford’s resilient defence in stoppage time.

Wilson’s brace not only delivered a well-deserved victory but also moved Fulham up the table, just a point away from the European places as they look to build on this hard-fought win.
