Eberechi Eze Shines As Crystal Palace Earn Their First Point Of The Season Against Chelsea.
Crystal Palace secured their first point of the Premier League season with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Eberechi Eze was the hero for the Eagles, scoring a stunning equaliser after Nicolas Jackson had put the Blues ahead.
Chelsea, buoyed by their 6-2 thrashing of Wolves last week, dominated the first half. Cole Palmer came close to scoring, firing just wide, and Dean Henderson made an excellent save to deny Noni Madueke. However, Chelsea eventually broke the deadlock when Jackson finished off a swift counter-attack, tapping in Palmer’s cross at the near post.
Crystal Palace were lucky not to be reduced to ten men when Will Hughes, already on a yellow card, escaped further punishment for a foul on Palmer. The Eagles made the most of their good fortune when Eze curled a superb shot beyond Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez to level the score.
Sanchez then kept Chelsea in the game with a brilliant save to deny Daichi Kamada, but Jackson had the chance to secure all three points for the Blues in stoppage time. However, Henderson was equal to his effort, ensuring Palace left Stamford Bridge with a valuable point.
The draw brings some relief for Crystal Palace after back-to-back defeats, while Chelsea now have four points from their opening three matches of the season.
