Enzo Maresca On Chelsea’s Title Hopes: “We Are Not Ready To Compete With Manchester City Or Arsenal”.
Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has offered a realistic assessment of his side’s Premier League title chances this season, acknowledging that they are not yet ready to compete with the likes of Manchester City or Arsenal.
Speaking candidly in a recent interview, Maresca, who took charge at Stamford Bridge just three months ago, highlighted the stark difference in experience and development between his squad and the current top teams in the Premier League.
“Competing to win the Premier League? I really don’t think we can compete with Manchester City or Arsenal now. We are not ready,” he admitted.
Maresca went on to emphasise the advantage City and Arsenal have due to the long-term projects under their managers. “Man City worked with Pep [Guardiola] for nine years. Arsenal, five years. Us, three months,” he explained, pointing to the continuity and stability that has helped these clubs reach the top level.
However, the Italian coach remains optimistic about Chelsea’s future, making it clear that the goal is to gradually close the gap between his side and the league’s frontrunners. “The target is to slowly, slowly… get closer,” he added, indicating that while immediate success may be unlikely, Chelsea are focused on building a team capable of challenging for top honours in the seasons to come.
With this grounded yet ambitious approach, Maresca is laying the foundation for Chelsea’s long-term success, as fans look forward to seeing how the team evolves under his leadership.
