Enyimba Foundation, in collaboration with Enyimba Football Club, brought joy to children and caregivers from four Motherless Babies homes in Aba on Monday through generous donations of food, cash, and essentials.
This marks the second philanthropic initiative by Enyimba Foundation since its establishment in September 2023. The beneficiaries included Seventh Day Motherless Babies homes on Ngwa Road and Ogborhill, Rita Joy Motherless Babies, and Father Basil Motherless Babies homes.
The event, held at the Enyimba Stadium, was a celebration filled with fun, joy, and dancing as the children enthusiastically participated in various activities.
Enyimba FC players were actively involved, donning their club jerseys and engaging in the festivities alongside the children, culminating in group photographs capturing the shared moments of happiness.
Each home received a generous donation of 200,000 naira in cash, a bag of rice, a full bag of gari, oil, noodles, and other essential items.
The Chairman of the club, Kanu Nwankwo, graced the occasion alongside the club’s Sporting Director, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, and former Super Eagles defender and current Enyimba board member, Uche Okechukwu, among others.
Addressing the gathering before the photo session, Kanu Nwankwo emphasized the importance of extending a helping hand to those in need as part of the club’s social responsibility.
Kanu highlighted the deeper meaning of life beyond winning trophies, stating, “This is not about Kanu, it is about these children. When I was playing, people said that if I win trophies, I will be happy. But after winning many trophies, I found out that there is more to life than winning trophies.”
The children were also treated to a memorable experience as they were chauffeured in Enyimba FC’s official branded buses, creating lasting memories they will cherish for years to come.
