Elon Musk Backs Impeachment Move Against Judge Who Blocked Trump’s Deportation Orders.
Elon Musk has voiced his support for impeachment proceedings against United States District Judge James E. Boasberg, who recently blocked deportation orders issued by President Donald Trump.
Musk, leader of the US Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE), described the action as “necessary” after Congressman Brandon Gill announced his intention to file impeachment articles against the judge.
Judge Blocks Trump’s Deportation Orders
The controversy stems from Trump’s invocation of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport members of Venezuelan gangs, which he claims pose a significant security threat to the country. The president argued that these criminal organisations are involved in kidnapping, extortion, organised crime, and contract killings, justifying his executive action as a measure to protect American citizens.
However, Judge Boasberg issued a ruling on Saturday to halt the deportations, stating that immediate intervention was necessary as the government had already begun enforcing Trump’s executive order.
Political Fallout and Musk’s Reaction
The decision sparked backlash from conservative lawmakers, with Texas Republican Brandon Gill leading the charge against Boasberg. Gill, who recently launched a petition to deport Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, announced his plan to introduce impeachment articles against the judge.
Musk then amplified Gill’s message by reposting it on X (formerly Twitter) with a single-word endorsement: “Necessary.”His post has since been viewed more than 10 million times, further intensifying the political debate.
With growing divisions over immigration policy, Musk’s support for Gill’s move signals a deepening rift between conservatives and the judiciary, setting the stage for a heated political battle in Washington.
