Egypt Triumphs at 2024 ITTF Africa Club Championships.
Egyptian table tennis clubs ENPPI and Petrojet showcased their dominance by outperforming rivals from Tunisia and Nigeria, emerging as champions in the men’s and women’s events at the 2024 ITTF Africa Club Championships in Benghazi, Libya.
The three-day tournament featured teams from Egypt, Nigeria, Tunisia, Ethiopia, and host country Libya, all competing for top honours. The ENPPI team, represented by Aly Ghallab, Mohamed Shouman, and Mohamed Aly Ahmed Salh, remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. Their closest match was against Tunisia’s Raquette d’Or Bizerte, which ended in a 3-2 victory for ENPPI. To secure the championship title, ENPPI also defeated the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Alnujum-Misurata, and Benghazi al Jadida of Libya.
Meanwhile, the Petrojet ladies displayed exceptional form, winning all their matches without dropping a set. They triumphed over Canaan Queen of Nigeria, the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, and Benghazi al Jadida, each with a 3-0 scoreline.
In recognition of their outstanding performances, Petrojet’s Marwa Alhodaby and Tunisia’s Wassim Essid were named the best players of the tournament for women and men, respectively.
The event was organised by the Libya Table Tennis Association with support from the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF).
