Several passengers were left stranded along the Agbor-Igueben-Uromi expressway after Nigerian Army personnel set up roadblocks at the Ebudin-Eguare junction.
The soldiers halted vehicles, forcing passengers to disembark, causing delays.
Among those affected were journalists on official duty, whose vehicle was held up for several minutes before being allowed to proceed. Reports also indicate that prominent political figures passing through the route the previous night were similarly detained by the Army before being cleared to continue their journey.
Voting activities, however, continued smoothly in Igueben Local Government Area, where there was a massive voter turnout. At Utantan Primary School, large crowds gathered to cast their votes.
Meanwhile, the military also increased security along the Igueben-Ewohimi road, with additional roadblocks set up at Ehie-Igueben. At Oghu Primary School in Ewohimi, Esan South East LGA, voters came out in large numbers to participate in the electoral process.
In the Okaigben community, where the polling unit of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Asue Ighodalo is located, the presence of Army personnel remained notably high, ensuring tight security in the area.
