Easter Message: Jonathan Urges Nigerians To Embrace Hope And Selfless Service.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called on Christians and all Nigerians to embrace the spirit of Easter by drawing strength from the message of Christ’s resurrection, which symbolises hope, renewal, and triumph over adversity.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, on Friday in Abuja, Jonathan encouraged citizens to remain positive despite the country’s present challenges, and to find encouragement in Christ’s sacrificial love and the promise of salvation.
“I join millions of Christians around the world to commemorate Good Friday,” the former president said. “This day reminds us all of the sacrificial death of Christ for humanity and His gift of salvation and redemption to all believers.”
Jonathan urged national leaders and citizens alike to reflect on the values of servanthood, sacrifice, and dedication to service, as exemplified by Jesus Christ. According to him, the Easter season is not only a celebration of Christ’s victory over death, but also a powerful reminder of God’s boundless love for mankind.
“At Easter, we reflect on the power of Christ’s love, the gift of righteousness, and the triumph of hope over despair and every challenge in life,” he added.
The former president emphasised that Easter serves as a source of inspiration and renewed commitment to faith, unity, and justice. He noted that the resurrection of Christ should remind Nigerians of the possibilities that lie ahead and the power of faith to overcome difficulties.
“I urge all citizens to be encouraged by the story of the resurrection of Christ and the lessons of hope and victory that are contained in it. Let us be reminded about the purpose of salvation and the essence of mercy, and the triumphing power of faith and hope over all circumstances,” he said.
Jonathan also used the occasion to appeal for renewed dedication to peace and nation-building, stressing the need for every Nigerian to contribute to fostering unity, love, and collective progress.
“This moment points us to the virtues of servanthood, sacrifice, and passion for service. Let us recommit to pursuing peace and justice for all,” he stated. “As a people, let this season renew our faith, strengthen our hope, and guarantee us peace. Let us continue to imbibe and pursue these virtues and work toward building a nation of peace, unity, and love.”
His Easter message serves as a timely call for reflection, compassion, and a shared resolve to overcome Nigeria’s challenges with faith and a renewed sense of national purpose.
