The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a strong advisory urging Muslims and the general public to exercise heightened vigilance during Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
In a statement released on Saturday, Peter Afunanya, Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications at DSS, emphasized the importance of adhering to personal security protocols.
He stated the need for operators and visitors of public places such as malls, parks, and railway stations to strictly comply with established safety measures to ensure public safety.
“It is strongly advised that while engaging in religious and social activities during the period, celebrants should be cautious and observe all necessary personal security procedures,” Afunanya stated. He urged the public to promptly report any suspicious activities or security breaches to the appropriate law enforcement agencies.
The DSS also announced its commitment to collaborate closely with other security agencies to safeguard lives and properties throughout the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The agency has provided contact information, including their website (dss.gov.ng), email (dsspr@dss.gov.ng), and telephone lines (+2349153391309; +2349088373514), for the public to report security concerns during and after the holidays.
The DSS extended its felicitations to the Muslim community. “The Director General, Management, and Staff of the DSS wish to felicitate the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid-Al-Adha,” the statement read.
They also called on all citizens to embody the values of faith, obedience, and generosity that the festival represents, promoting national transformation and unity.
