Nigerian singer Davido has sparked a conversation about his views on cannabis, also known as weed, and its classification as a hard drug.
In a recent episode of The Morning Hustle podcast, Davido shared his thoughts on the matter while discussing his foundation’s plans to donate to orphanages and support the fight against drug abuse.
When asked about the perceived hypocrisy of donating to the fight against drug abuse while still smoking weed, Davido clarified his stance. “I don’t count weed as a hard drug,” he said. “Some people are saying I smoke weed, but I don’t count weed as a drug.”
Davido emphasized his concern about the growing issue of drug addiction among young people. “A lot of people have been going through a lot recently. Drug addiction is becoming rampant. So I want to donate to that cause to help them quit,” he explained.
The singer’s comments have sparked a debate about the classification of cannabis and its potential effects on users. While some people share Davido’s views on weed, others consider it a hard drug due to its potential for addiction and other negative consequences.
