Cyclists Set To Compete For Gold At 2024 Gateway Games.
The 22nd National Sports Festival, also known as the 2024 Gateway Games, is set to witness an exciting competition in cycling as athletes from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory converge to chase gold medals. The event, which begins on Tuesday, May 20, 2024, promises to be an exhilarating display of speed and endurance.
According to Bashir Mohammed, Technical Director of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN), 17 events will be contested over nine days, with three events taking place on the first day. The Mixed Relay, 3km Team Pursuit for women, and 4km Team Pursuit for men will kick off the competition, with the Mixed Relay set to hold in the morning and the other two events in the evening.
Mohammed, however, urged all participating states to ensure that they pay their affiliation fees as well as licence fees for their cyclists. Failure to do so will result in the athletes being disqualified from participating in the competition.
As the cyclists prepare to take to the roads, excitement is building among fans and officials alike. The 2024 Gateway Games promise to be a showcase of talent and skill, with athletes vying for top honours in the various events. With the competition set to be fierce, one thing is certain: only the best will emerge victorious.
