Cristiano Ronaldo Criticises Erik ten Hag, Calls For Manchester United Rebuild.
Cristiano Ronaldo has openly criticised Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, stating that the club must “rebuild everything” in order to compete for football’s top honours once again.
The Dutch manager is facing mounting pressure following Manchester United’s disappointing eighth-place finish last season, marking their lowest position in Premier League history. The pressure has intensified after the Red Devils suffered two defeats in their opening three games of the current campaign.
Ronaldo, who enjoyed two successful spells at Old Trafford before departing for Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, questioned Ten Hag’s mentality and approach to the club’s ambitions.
Speaking on the “Rio Ferdinand Presents” podcast, which will air on Thursday, Ronaldo expressed his concerns. “The coach says they cannot compete to win the [Premier] League and Champions League,” Ronaldo said. “As Manchester United coach, you cannot say that you’re not going to fight to win the league or Champions League.”
He further explained, “Mentally, you might think we don’t have the potential, but you cannot say that. You have to try. What I wish for Manchester [United] is what I wish for myself – for them to be the best team they can.”
Ronaldo’s comments reflect the frustration of many fans who are eager to see the club return to its former glory. The criticism of Ten Hag’s leadership highlights the growing debate around the direction of the club and the need for a comprehensive rebuild to restore Manchester United’s status as one of Europe’s elite football teams.
