The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja, inaugurated a state-of-the-art solar-powered computer laboratory at Government Girls Secondary School Charanchi in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State on March 2, 2024.
This initiative, part of the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation Project spearheaded by Major General UB Abubakar, marks a significant step towards enhancing educational infrastructure in the region.
Representing the Chief of Army Staff was Major General NC Ugbo, Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, who conveyed the army’s commitment to fostering development beyond traditional military operations.
The newly commissioned laboratory boasts 25 computer sets, an office complete with a restroom, and high-speed internet connectivity, all powered by solar energy—a testament to sustainable technology integration. Major General UB Abubakar, the project executor, expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for the unwavering support and urged the school’s principal to ensure optimal maintenance of the facility for the benefit of the students.
The event witnessed the symbolic handing over of project keys to the school’s principal, along with the exchange of souvenirs and group photographs. Notable attendees included Brigadier General MA Sadiq, representing the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army; Rabiu Usman Bichi, former Kano State Secretary to the State Government; the Chairman of Bichi Local Government Area; esteemed community leaders, and dedicated school staff, all united in their commitment to advancing education and community development.
