ChatGPT Reportedly Down Globally According To Down-detector

Unfolding reports suggests that ChatGPT might be currently faced with a global outage, affecting thousands of users with Down-detector reporting increased errors since yesterday. OpenAI acknowledges the issue and is investigating.

Alleged memes and user complaints are said to flood X, showcasing widespread frustration over the disruption. This marks another downtime incident for ChatGPT, reminiscent of a similar outage in December, 2024.

ChatGPT is currently down for users worldwide. According to website performance tracking tool – Downdetector, thousands of users are impacted by this global outage.

“Increased errors for ChatGPT, Sora, and API,” read a statement from the company. The company also said – “We are continuing to investigate this issue.” OpenAI has not yet provided any details regarding the cause or the extent of the outage.





ChatGPT outage: Details

The latest ChatGPT’s downtime is affecting a significant number of users.

As many as 26,000 people across the globe are reportedly facing issues with the AI tool. Downdetector indicates a spike in complaints around 9:19 am, with the number continuing to rise as more users report problems.

Around 92% reportedly facing problems with ChatGPT. While other 7% and 1% are error on website and API.

This isn’t the first time ChatGPT has experienced downtime. A similar outage occurred in December, which was acknowledged by OpenAI.

Frustrated users took to microblogging site X (formerly Twitter), to report their experiences.
“Chat GPT DOWN! Its understandable for a lot of people to be pissed right now!,” wrote one user.
