Nigerian singer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has shared his harrowing experience with prostate cancer.
He revealed that he suffered from stage 1 prostate cancer, which made him sterile and uninterested in sex.
Charly Boy underwent surgery at Reddington Hospital and has since recovered. However, he admitted that the experience left him feeling less of a man.
He said, “For a man wey no too get money, and him thing no dey too function, you feel less of a man.” Charly Boy emphasized the importance of early detection and encouraged men to get tested regularly.
To raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer testing and treatment, Charly Boy established the Charly Boy Foundation. The foundation partners with hospitals in various locations and offers financial assistance for testing.
Charly Boy appealed for donations to support his initiative, stating, “We need funds to help other people who may not have the wherewithal to pay for the basic test.” He emphasized that openness is crucial in fighting prostate cancer.
