Champions League Round-Up: Aston Villa Secure Top Spot, Vinícius Júnior Shines In Real Madrid Comeback.

Aston Villa have continued their perfect start to the UEFA Champions League, defeating Bologna 2-0 on Tuesday to claim their third consecutive win and move to the top of the table. Meanwhile, Real Madrid staged a stunning comeback to beat Borussia Dortmund 5-2, with Vinícius Júnior delivering a hat-trick in an unforgettable night of football.

 

Aston Villa 2-0 Bologna

Aston Villa extended their unbeaten run in this year’s competition with another impressive display at Villa Park. The first half saw Unai Emery’s side dominate possession, but it wasn’t until the 55th minute that captain John McGinn broke the deadlock, delivering a precise free-kick that found the bottom corner. Jhon Durán doubled Villa’s lead with a volley, sealing their place at the top of the group with nine points from three matches.  Player of the Match: Jhon Durán (Aston Villa)





 

Real Madrid 5-2 Borussia Dortmund

Real Madrid pulled off a remarkable second-half comeback against Borussia Dortmund, overturning a two-goal deficit to claim a 5-2 victory. Dortmund had surged ahead with goals from Donyell Malen and Jamie Gittens, but the defending champions responded in spectacular fashion. Vinícius Júnior’s hat-trick, along with goals from Antonio Rüdiger and Lucas Vázquez, ensured a memorable turnaround for the Spanish giants.  Player of the Match: Vinícius Júnior (Real Madrid)

Girona 2-0 Slovan Bratislava: Girona earned their first Champions League points, with Juanpe scoring a free-kick on his competition debut.  Player of the Match: Miguel Gutiérrez (Girona)

 

Juventus 0-1 Stuttgart: El Bilal Touré’s late strike gave Stuttgart all three points in a tense encounter.  Player of the Match: Mattia Perin (Juventus)

 

Paris Saint-Germain 1-1 PSV Eindhoven: Achraf Hakimi’s equaliser secured a point for PSG in a lively match.  Player of the Match: Achraf Hakimi (PSG)

 

Sturm Graz 0-2 Sporting CP: Viktor Gyökeres’ brilliant solo effort sealed the win for Sporting CP.  Player of the Match: Viktor Gyökeres (Sporting CP)

 

With more exciting fixtures to come on Matchday 4, the competition is heating up as teams battle for progression in Europe’s premier tournament.
