Nigeria champions Rivers United thrashed ASEC Mimosa of Cote d’Ivoire 3-0 in their CAF Confederation Cup Group B clash in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
It was the Pride of Rivers first win in the group after they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Congo’s Diables Noirs on matchday one.
Stanley Eguma’s side took the lead in the first minute through Malachi Ohawume.
The hosts goalkeeper Sochima Victor produced a great save to deny the Ivorians two minutes before the half hour mark.
Ukeme Williams doubled Rivers United’s advantage three minutes before the break.
It was three minutes after the break with Dennis Ndasi nodding home the third goal from Ebube Duru’s cross.
Rivers United will travel away to Democratic Republic of Congo side, DC Motema Pembe for their next game on Sunday.
