BREAKING: Xavi Hernández has decided to LEAVE Barcelona at the end of the season.
Xavi: “I will leave Barcelona in June”.
“We have reached a point of no return. It’s time for change. As a Culé, I think that it’s time to leave”.
“I spoke with the board and the club today. I will leave on the 30th of June”.
“This club needs a change of dynamic. Leaving Barça is the best decision possible for all parties involved”.
“I’m the most responsible one, so the players will finally feel free now”.
This is following Barcelona’s defeat in the hands of Villarreal, who thrashed Barcelona 5:3 in a thrilling La Liga Contest.
Barcelona had initially came back from a 2 goal deficit when they leveled 2:2 and subsequently took the lead with an own goal by Eric Bailey.
However things spunned out of control in the closing stages of the encounter when Villarreal scored two goals to seal a fierce Saturday night.
In truth, this only opened the door for Villarreal to emulate their opponents in the aforementioned reverse fixture, and it was they who broke hearts at the death to put a four-game winless streak on their travels to bed.
Gonçalo Guedes levelled in the 84th minute, and just as it looked like the points would be shared, Alexander Sørloth and José Luis Morales stunned the hosts with goals deep into stoppage time, flipping the script once again to hand Marcelino’s men a stunning 5-3 victory.
The advent of the loss coupled with going out of the Copa Del Rey just few days ago after also loosing to Athletic Club Bilbao. Xavi has now decided it’s time up at his boyhood club.
