President Tinubu Promotes Acting Chief Of Army Staff Oluyede To Lieutenant General.
In a move recognising dedication and exemplary service, President Bola Tinubu has promoted Acting Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, to the rank of Lieutenant General. The promotion, announced on Tuesday and celebrated at a ceremony in Abuja’s State House, underscores the administration’s commitment to bolstering the leadership of Nigeria’s armed forces.
Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, explained that the promotion reflects Oluyede’s steadfast commitment to the Nigerian military, as well as his impressive service record. President Tinubu expressed admiration for Oluyede’s accomplishments, stating, “This recognition reflects your commitment and service to the Nigerian military, which speaks volumes through your exemplary record.” He further praised the military’s courage and patriotism in its mission to secure the nation.
Highlighting recent successes in counter-terrorism efforts and national security, Tinubu attributed much of the progress to the synergy within the armed forces. He encouraged Oluyede and other service chiefs to sustain their unified efforts, noting that “The synergy among you has calmed the country, and we need that stability to continue.”
Lieutenant General Oluyede responded with gratitude, acknowledging the honour of the occasion and reiterating his dedication to maintaining peace across Nigeria. He also voiced his commitment to upholding the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, as they work together to enhance security nationwide.
Oluyede’s distinguished military career spans multiple decades and includes key leadership roles and operational experience. As the former Commander of the Nigerian Army’s infantry corps in Jaji, Kaduna, he has been instrumental in operations both domestically and abroad. His contributions include roles in the Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group (ECOMOG) Mission in Liberia, Operation HARMONY IV in Bakassi, and Operation HADIN KAI in Nigeria’s North East theatre, where he led the 27 Task Force Brigade.
With this promotion, Oluyede is expected to continue his impactful service, contributing to the advancement of peace, security, and stability across the country.
