NSC Chairman Approves Release Of Paris 2024 Olympic Investigative Report.
The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, has granted approval for the publication of the Investigative Panel Report on the Nigerian contingent’s participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This report, which highlights negative exposures and challenges faced by the team, was prepared by an investigative committee initially commissioned by Senator John Owan Enoh, the former minister of sports development.
The committee formally presented the report to Senator Enoh on 22 October 2024, in the presence of the ministry’s former permanent secretary, Mrs. Atinuke Watti. A public release was initially scheduled for 25 October 2024; however, following Senator Enoh’s reassignment to a different ministry by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presentation was postponed.
Following his assumption of office last week, Mr. Dikko received a formal request from the committee’s chairman, Dr. Mumini Alao, urging him to authorise the report’s publication. Dikko has now approved this release, affirming the commission’s commitment to transparency and accountability in addressing the issues raised.
The report is expected to provide valuable insights into the organisational and logistical setbacks faced by Nigerian athletes in Paris, sparking discussions aimed at improving future performances on the international stage.
