A Federal High Court in Abuja has reaffirmed its order for the arrest and appearance of former Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello.
Justice Emeka Nwite emphasized that Bello’s non-compliance with the court’s directive and his attempts to impede the EFCC’s efforts to execute the arrest warrant were deemed disrespectful.
The court maintained that Bello must appear and respond to a 19-count money laundering charge filed against him by the EFCC before further proceedings could be entertained.
Additionally, the judge dismissed Bello’s lawyer’s request for a stay on the case pending the resolution of an appeal related to a contempt charge in a Kogi state High Court.
