Bernardo Silva Criticises “Crazy” Football Schedule.
Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has expressed frustration over the intense fixture schedule that top footballers are being subjected to. Speaking in a candid interview with ‘Record’, the Portuguese midfielder described the current situation as “completely crazy.”
“We’ve just received the news that we only have one day off for the English League Cup game,” Silva said. “We’ll probably play every three days for months. It’s been absolutely absurd.”
Silva also highlighted the pressures faced by teams in European competitions, especially the Champions League. “In the Champions League, if you don’t qualify for the round of 16, you still have to play two more games. It’s true that the squads are bigger, but I’m not going to say that it’s easy.”
Beyond the physical toll, Silva noted the personal sacrifices players are forced to make due to the demanding schedule. “I spend very little time with my family and friends. The amount of games we’re subjected to is absolutely absurd.”
Silva’s comments reflect growing concerns among top players about the relentless pace of the modern football calendar.
