Bayelsa State Football Association Constitutes General Assembly; Suspends NANPF and PFAN Bayelsa State Chapters.
Bayelsa State Football Association has constituted a general assembly to look into issues affecting football and other related matters.
The State football regulatory body arrived at a decision to form the general assembly at the end of an extraordinary congress held at the Silina hall in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
In a communiqué signed by the drafting committee chairman Tulagha Ebimieowei, Diseye Nwankwe Secretary and Perela Aboro, stated that the State FA had earlier received a complaint from Dr. Timi Ozaka a member of the National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers (NANPF) Bayelsa State Chapter challenging the election of Chf. Baribote Victor Rumson has Chairman of the Players Union in Bayelsa State.
He opined that there was never a time where the players union in Bayelsa State elected Chief Victor Baribote Rumson as its chairman.
That the last time the union had its election was in 2015; that the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria PFAN) Bayelsa State chapter is not known to the players in Bayelsa, that the only authentic body governing the affairs of players in Bayelsa State is the National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers ( NANPF) Bayelsa State chapter.
That the endorsement of Chief Baribote Victor Rumson as the chairman of the players’ body in the State by the Board of the Bayelsa State Football Association is unacceptable
The communique notes that after a close examination of the records of the Association, the General Assembly found that the last time (NANPF) held elections to constitute it’s executive body was in 2015.
It notes that it was also the last time it paid its annual affiliation dues to the Bayelsa State Football Association, noting that there is no record of any election held by (PFAN) Bayelsa State chapter returning Chief Baribote Rumson as chairman.
It further explains that there is also no proof that ( PFAN) has paid any affiliation dues to the Bayelsa State Football Association to warrant its admission as an affiliate of the Bayelsa State Football Association.
That consequently, the General Assembly resolved that both ( NANPF) and ( PFAN) Bayelsa State chapters are not qualified to be affiliate members of the Bayelsa State Football Association, having failed to hold elections to constitute their respective executive body and pay affiliation dues to the Bayelsa State Football Association.
It added that both bodies have been suspended from the Bayelsa State Football Association until they do what is obtainable.
