Barcelona Stumble Again In La Liga Draw Against Getafe.
Barcelona’s recent La Liga woes continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez on Saturday. The result marks the fourth consecutive league game where Hansi Flick’s squad have failed to secure all three points, despite their impressive run in cup competitions.
Coming off the back of four straight wins in the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup, Barcelona supporters had hoped for a return to form in the league. However, the team’s recent domestic performances have been lacklustre, having previously gathered just one point from their last three games of 2024.

The match started brightly for the visitors when Jules Kounde managed to scramble the ball into the net after his initial attempt was heroically blocked by Getafe’s goalkeeper, David Soria. The early lead, however, was short-lived. Mauro Arambarri capitalised on a rebound from Inaki Pena’s save, levelling the score just before halftime.
In the second half, Barcelona pushed for a winner, with Frenkie de Jong coming closest. His powerful shot from distance was brilliantly tipped over by the ever-alert Soria, preserving the draw for the home side.
This result leaves Barcelona in third place in La Liga, now trailing leaders Atletico Madrid by five points, following the latter’s unexpected defeat to Leganes earlier in the day.
Getafe, on the other hand, will be pleased with the draw, which extends their unbeaten run at home against Barcelona to five La Liga matches. The point gained sees them sit just one point clear of the relegation zone, offering them a sliver of hope in their battle against the drop.
For Barcelona, the draw underscores the urgent need for a turnaround in their league form if they are to mount a serious challenge for the title. With the season approaching its critical phase, Flick and his players will need to regroup and rediscover the consistency that has eluded them in La Liga this campaign.
