Salah determined to win Ballon d’Or
Liverpool star forward, Mohamed Salah has said he will do all he can to win the Ballon d’Or award next year, if he fails to win it this year.
Salah, speaking with France Football, admitted that Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema might be favourite to win the individual accolade.
Karim Benzema extraordinary performance this season with a Champions League trophy to his name, means he’s the Favorite to win the prestigious award ahead of Mo’Salah of Liverpool.
Salah is eager to join Liberia’s George Weah as the only African to win the award, but concedes he might have to wait.
Liverpool forward Mo’Salah feels disappointed after he finished down the pecking order below Paris Saint German superstar Lionel Messi in 2021 Ballon d’Or rankings.
The 29-year-old said: “I want to win it to join George Weah, the only African.
It’s true that I was shocked by my ranking in 2021. For this year, the [Champions League], defeat against Real Madrid is a disadvantage, even if I played a good game in the final.
“But it doesn’t cancel out everything I’ve achieved for months. Let’s wait for the vote. And if I’m not Ballon d’Or winner in 2022, I’ll do everything I can to be the next one.” he said.
