The organised Labour has shunned a meeting scheduled by the federal government as part of the efforts to prevent a nationwide strike by workers. The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has urged Nigerians who applied for International Passports and are yet to collect to visit the passports offices for collection as backlog has been cleared. Immigration spokesman, Dotun Aridegbe a Deputy Comptroller of Immigration who disclosed this in an exclusive chat with The Guardian noted that: “The days of passports backlog are now over.” The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, had given the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) two weeks to clear the over 200,000 pending passport applications before it. Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) launches Apapa-Kajola inter-city express train service. This is to help lessen the impact of petroleum subsidy removal on Nigerians by launching the Apapa Express, a rapid mass transit passenger train commuting along the standard gauge railway line. The NRC, in a statement issued on Thursday, stated that the main and primary aim of the idea is to ease the burden of travellers between Apapa in Lagos and Kajola in Ogun State.
