Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state says he would appeal the majority judgment of the Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia that annulled his declaration as the winner of March 18 election. The governor stated this on Monday in Lafia while reacting the the spilt judgment of the tribunal. Lawyers for Niger’s ousted president says they are filing a legal case in the West African country against those behind the coup that deposed the democratically elected leader. The lawyers for Mohamed Bazoum, who was overthrown on July 26 and has since been detained, also said in a statement they were appealing to the UN Human Rights Council. Nigeria’s former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke, on Monday appeared before a London court over bribery charges instituted against her by the UK’s National Crime Agency. With bribery charges imposed against Diezani, the UK government is apparently seeking a 10-year jail term for the ex-Nigerian minister. As stipulated in UK’s Bribery Act 2010, any offence under the Act is punishable either by a fine or imprisonment for up to 10 years. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has debunked a news publication in an online media alleging non-establishment of testing laboratory for food fortification. A statement by NAFDAC Resident Media Consultant, Mr Olusayo Akintola, in Abuja on Monday stated that the attention of the agency was drawn to the Sept. 30 publication by “Flowerbud NEWS” in respect of the subject matter. Liverpool are to appeal against the red card given to Curtis Jones during their controversial 2-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. Jones was sent off for fouling Yves Bissouma on 26 minutes after a video assistant referee (VAR) intervention. Referee Simon Hooper initially gave Jones a yellow card for the challenge, but changed his decision after going to the pitchside monitor. The West African Examinations Council has named Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut as the Head of the Nigeria National Office of the institution thereby succeeding Patrick Areghan. Areghan’s tenure ended in September 2023 which made way for Dangut’s appointment, WAEC said in a statement on Monday. The new WAEC boss joined the Council in 1998 and started as an Assistant Registrar II and rose to become a Deputy Registrar in April 2018. Tottenham have condemned racist abuse directed at defender Destiny Udogie on social media after Saturday’s 2-1 home win against Liverpool. Liverpool forward Diogo Jota was sent off for a second bookable offence when he fouled Udogie. The Governorship election petition tribunal has nullified the election of Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state, declaring PDP’s David Ombugadu as the winner. Delivering the judgment virtually, the chairman of the tribunal, Justice Ezekiel Ajayi declared Emmanuel Ombugadu of the PDP as the lawfully elected governor of Nasarawa State.

Rivers State Governorship Election petition has thrown out the petition filed by the candidate of the Labour Party. Beatrice Itubo was challenging the declaration of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Simnalayi Fubara as the winner of the 2023 governorship election in the State. Wild jubilation engulfed Araromi-Okeodo, a community in Ife-South Local Government Area of Osun State, following supply of electricity to the town for the first time, after 91 years in total darkness.
