Dangote Cement, MTN Nigeria, and Airtel lead the list of most valuable companies in Nigeria as of the end of Q3 2023, jointly accounting for 45% of the total equities market capitalization as the market gained N2.96 trillion in Q3 alone.  In terms of market capitalization, the market’s value increased from N33.4 trillion to N36.3 trillion in the same period.  Notably, the top ten companies accounted for 76% of the entire market with a joint value of N27.67 trillion. After over one week, the Lagos State Government has reopened some of the markets shut down in the state. The State Waste  Management Authority, (LAWMA) announced the reopening of the markets including Ladipo, Oyingbo, Alamutu Ologede and Ile-Epo markets, sealed at different times over alleged violation and non-compliance with environmental laws. The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State, has announced the suspension of academic activities following the refusal of workers to call off their strike action. DAILY POST recalls that both the academic and non-academic staff of MAPOLY on Thursday embarked on an indefinite strike due to nonpayment of their July, August and September salaries. The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna State Command, Kabir Yusuf Nadabo, has claimed that his personnel are being intimidated by some politicians in the state. The Nigerian government has approved the appointment of retired doctors, nurses, and other clinical healthcare workers on contract, according to a circular from the Federal Ministry of Health. The circular, dated October 5, 2023, directs the Chief Executive Agencies, Chief Medical Directors, Medical Directors, and Heads of Regulatory Bodies and Schools to ensure compliance with the circular earlier issued by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to all staff in their institutions.
