A Civil Society Organisation, Yiaga Africa, on Tuesday called on the Independent National Electoral Commission and the National Universities Commission to bar universities from scheduling examinations during the election period. The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has unanimously voted to increase the benchmark interest rate by 100 basis points to 17.5 per cent. The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, disclosed this while reading the communiqué at the end of the two-day MPC meeting, the first of the year.
