The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the candidate of the Social Democratic Party for the Nasarawa West Senatorial District election, Aliyu Wadada, as the winner of Saturday’s election in the area. Wadada is expected to replace Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who had vacated his seat in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly after emerging as the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress. The Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, has defeated the APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Lagos, his home state. Though Tinubu won more local government areas, Obi defeated him with most of the votes. All the results of the 20 local governments have been declared. Tinubu won in 11, while Obi won in nine local government areas. With the results declared, Obi polled 582,664, while Tinubu scored 541,850.

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Abdullahi Adamu has lost the presidential election in his Angwarimi Ward, GRA A1, LERCEST Office in Keffi, Nasarawa State to the Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi. Obi won the unit after polling 132 votes, while the APC got 85 votes for the second position. Voting has ended in Amatutu ward two, polling unit 019, the polling unit of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi. Voting stopped at exactly 3:20pm, while sorting of votes commenced immediately. The INEC official, who addressed voters to announce the end of voting, thanked them for their orderly behaviour.

The National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has said the collation of results will start on Sunday. The chairman disclosed this Saturday while giving updates on the voting process nationwide. He also said this was the first time that the general election was not postponed since 2011. The Chairman of the Labour Party in Karshi District of the Federal Capital Territory, Valentine Onuigbo, has been found dead in his home in the early hours of Saturday.
