The Federal Government has said that a total of 12,988,978 attacks were recorded on public websites and portals during the February 25 presidential and national assembly elections. The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Pantami disclosed this in a statement by his media aide, Uwa Suleiman on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, has revealed that Americans lost $10.3 billion to numerous internet scams last year.  This was disclosed according to an FBI report published this month, stating that losses were the highest in five years. According to ABC News on Tuesday, the Bureau’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) lodged more than 2,000 complaints per day.The most highly reported crimes were phishing expeditions, with 300,497 victims reporting over $52 million in losses in 2022, according to the Bureau.
