Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party, has won at the polling unit of former Governor Rashidi Ladoja. Ladoja, who had not been in support of the second term bid of Makinde, casts his vote at ward 10 in the Ibadan North Local Government Area of the state. The PDP polled 98 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congressive, APC candidate, Teslim Folarin, who scored 35 votes at unit 17.

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress and incumbent Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, won the polling unit of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. The APC candidate polled 43 votes, his closest contender, the Labour Party candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, had five votes, while the National Rescue Movement had one vote. Meanwhile, there was low turnout of voters at the PU as 50 people voted out of 324 registered voters.

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi has voted at his Amatutu polling unit in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State. Obi who cast his vote at about 11:20am lamented that Nigeria has returned to the era of transactional politics, alleging that the ongoing election is witnessing vote buying. Obi also lamented the low turnout of voters in the state. He said this may be because the people have lost interest and confidence in the system.

Some hoodlums have disrupted voting process in Osogbo, capital of Osun state, dispersing INEC officials and other electorates. Voting was ongoing at Ataoja Ward 5 polling units 10 and 11 when some hoodlums arrived the units and shoot sporadically into the air to disperse INEC officials, party agents and electorates on the queue. The hoodlums did not cart away with the ballot box but they disrupted the process and forced both officials and electorates from the two units which are closed to one another.

Labour Party candidate for the Lagos State gubernatorial poll, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has vowed to seek redress in court if the outcome of the ongoing election does not favour him. The Labour Party candidate, who spoke shortly after casting his vote at his polling unit 045, Oshifila/Abule Igbira in Anifowose, Ikeja, alleged that there are incidences of vote suppression by thugs supporting his opponent. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and his wife, Ibijoke has cast his vote in the ongoing governorship and state assembly elections. Sanwo-Olu and his wife cast their votes at the Unit 019, Lateef Jakande Avenue/Femi Okunnu in Ikoyi II. The governor is seeking re-election for another four year term. He is being challenged by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party and Mr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Oyo state Governor Seyi Makinde has cast his vote in Ibadan the state capital. Makinde voted at Abayomi area, Iwo Road, in Unit 001, Ward 11 in Ibadan North East Local Government Area in Ibadan. He arrived at the polling unit around 10:32 am. The governor, who is seeking another term in office on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), went to cast his vote immediately he arrived at the venue. He was welcomed by a large crowd who had voted and awaited his arrival. The mammoth crowd made it impossible for the governor to speak with journalists.

The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kano, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has while casting his votes at his Gawuna Polling Unit, emphasized his destiny is in the hands of Allah. Gawuna, who voted amid hundreds of other voters, said he is confident that the elections would be peaceful with a full security presence. “Power comes from God as I always said, and I’m not worried at all because I know God has already destined who is going to win this contest,” he said. Delay in the payment of the ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission resulted in a protest at the Registration Area Centre of the commission located in the Amuwo-Odofin Nursery and Primary School, Mile 2, Lagos on Saturday. No fewer than two million residents of Ogun State are expected to vote in today’s governorship and House of Assembly elections. According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), 2,688,305 persons registered to vote in Ogun State.
